Okay, you got it. I'd give a higher priority to keyboard macros, but the scripting API might actually be easier to implement.

Writing a scripting language from scratch would be an enormous task. A far easier option would be to publish an API that could be used by existing scripting languages such as VBScript and JavaScript. You could expose a few simple methods to begin with (create/rename document, etc.) and add more as time permits, without having to worry about creating and debugging an entire new language.

UNSELECT the Item when it's subitem is selected... *definitely* more intuitive! Have you considered the idea of checkboxes on tree items? This would make it easier to define a discontinuous set of items. Hmm... maybe I'd better make that a separate suggestion.

I like the idea a lot... but you might want to consider switching your vote to "Filter directly in the Tree View - so that the outline context remains". It accomplishes the same thing, and that suggestion already has 16 votes. Of course, your idea has the virtue of being simpler -- Petko should consider both alternatives.
